FAZ: Where German AI Talent Lives (Siddhi Pal, Catherine Schneider)
In an analysis of Germany's AI workforce based on the study Germany's AI Divide by Catherine Schneider and Siddhi Pal, the German-language newspaper FAZ examined the regional concentration and sector distribution of the nation's 117,000 AI professionals. Schneider highlighted that Berlin's AI talent density is more than double that of Bavaria, while Pal explained that talent concentration creates a self-reinforcing ecosystem where existing hubs naturally attract further talent, investments, and professional networks. Furthermore, Pal noted that locations establishing English as their primary working language hold a distinct advantage in attracting global talent, whereas traditional industrial firms often limit their applicant pool by favoring familiar local profiles and native German skills.
